About
Twenty years in infrastructure, support and training; a documentation company; and a site about all of it.
I'm Didier Joomun, from Vacoas, Mauritius. Twenty years in IT, most of it close to the machines and to the people who have to run them: support desks, operations teams, engineers learning a new platform. Today I consult and train on security operations, infrastructure and AI, and I run ScribeOps, a technical-documentation company.
Where I come from
I started on the phones at Outremer Telecom: two years as a hotliner, then training the hotliners and writing their procedures. That is where I learnt the thing I still work by: if the explanation doesn't land, the technology doesn't exist.
Then thirteen years at a managed-services provider: Unix administrator, Linux team manager in Mauritius, systems engineer in Ho Chi Minh City running customer platforms on AWS and Alibaba Cloud, and finally training and development manager for the Asia region, curricula, certification paths, e-learning, talent programmes, and the HR processes around them.
Since 2021 I've worked as a technical writer and documentation manager for software and open-source companies. In October 2025 that became ScribeOps: a bilingual team that builds documentation systems for SaaS, API and infrastructure companies.
What I do now
Three things, often together: consulting on security operations and infrastructure, training for support and engineering teams, and documentation through ScribeOps. All of it remote, in English or French, with the team in the room, whatever I build or write, your people should be able to maintain.
This site
I write here about what I'm working on: documentation, security operations, DevOps, training, AI, and the occasional detour into ontology, embedded systems and old computers. DidDecode is the monthly letter that sums it up.
